LAAAMP Crystallography Hubs
The LAAAMP Crystallography Hubs initiative is a new cornerstone of LAAAMP’s mission to strengthen scientific capacity and prepare the next generation of synchrotron light source users. Recognizing that research infrastructures are essential for the growth of scientific communities, these regional hubs provide access to modern diffraction instruments, hands-on training, and a collaborative environment that connects researchers across institutions and countries.
Guided by the principle of “building the users before we build the synchrotrons”, the hubs aim to foster cooperation, skill development, and regional networking. LAAAMP acts as a facilitator in this process—identifying strategic locations based on community needs, partnering with instrument manufacturers, and advocating with local institutions to ensure the long-term sustainability of these facilities. Through the establishment of Crystallography Hubs, LAAAMP empowers emerging scientific communities to take their first steps toward full participation in global light source research.
